Dan Carmack

A fascination with learning how the human body work and how to make it perform even better drew me into the professional of physical therapy and ultimately to the opening of my clinic, Breakthrough Performance and Wellness in Asheville, NC.

I grew up playing a variety of sports, but shifted my focus to soccer early on. I played collegiate soccer as a three-year starter and two-year captain including one year in the pro development league before entering Physical Therapy school in Philadelphia, PA.

I also coached soccer for 10 years and through all of these experiences, my fascination with physical therapy grew as I deal with my own injuries and those of my team members. I was always conscious of the need to do better when it came to sports and active living in general.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Life Sciences from Pennsylvania State University and my Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from Thomas Jefferson University.

Over the past several years I have developed a particular interest working in sports and orthopedics, completing an orthopedic residency and working with multiple athletes predominantly in the CrossFit niche.

I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Certified in Dry Needling, Certified in Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) and mobilization/manipulation, Certified in the Modern Management of the Older Adult, and USAW Level 1 Certified.

As well, I am an Orthopedic Certified Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS).
